Honda has made significant strides in the Chinese motorcycle market through its joint venture with GAC Group and Sundiro Group, which officially began in August 2024. The partnership aims to supply mid-displacement models produced by Wuyang-Honda and Sundiro Honda, with the new “Honda Dream” sales network focused around Honda DreamWing dealerships.
In addition to the joint venture, Honda opened a new sales facility in Shanghai in August 2024. This facility focuses on selling medium and large displacement motorcycles, including sports bikes, further strengthening Honda’s presence in China.
Honda introduced two new models equipped with their E-Clutch electronic clutch technology: the 2024 CBR650R priced at 82,800 yuan (approx. ₱643,000) and the 2024 CB650R at 76,800 yuan (approx. ₱597,000). These models offer advanced features aimed at enhancing rider experience.
When compared to the Honda E-clutch prices in the Philippines, the Chinese pricing for the CBR650R and CB650R is notably higher. For instance, the 2024 CB650R’s price in China (₱597,000) is higher than the ₱524,000 price tag in the Philippines for the standard version. Similarly, the E-Clutch version is expected to be priced higher as well. This reflects the cost dynamics between the two markets, possibly due to differences in taxes, tariffs, and local production costs.
