CFMoto V4 SR-RR: China’s first liter-class superbike is heading to production

Listen to article

China just put the superbike world on notice.

The CFMoto V4 SR-RR is the first liter-class superbike ever developed by a Chinese manufacturer. It debuted at EICMA 2025 in Milan as a prototype. At that point, CFMoto confirmed production intent. But the story moved forward on March 27, 2026. At CFMoto Day 2026, the V4 SR-RR was not placed on a stand. The bike fired up and was ridden at the Chengdu Tianfu International Circuit in front of a live crowd.

The numbers are legitimate. The engine is a 997cc 90-degree V4, producing over 210 horsepower. Weight comes in under 200 kilograms, top speed exceeds 300 km/h, with a power-to-weight ratio above 1 hp per kilogram. That puts it in the same conversation as the Ducati Panigale V4, Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10RR, and Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade.

The electronically controlled winglets retract to reduce drag at high speed and deploy to create downforce during braking. That kind of active aero usually lives on premium Italian machinery. CFMoto is doing it on a Chinese-built bike.

The chassis has no conventional main frame. The engine acts as a load-bearing element, with the aluminum swingarm mounted directly to the cylinder head and transmission, the same principle used on the Ducati Panigale V4. Prototype hardware includes Brembo calipers and an Akrapovic exhaust. Production spec will be different.

CFMoto has the bike at the center of its big-bike racing plans, with WorldSBK a realistic target.

Here in the Philippines, CFMoto is available through Motostrada. The brand’s current flagship, the CFMoto 750SR-S, retails at P566,900. No local pricing or availability for the V4 SR-RR yet. Global estimates place it between $13,000 and $18,000 USD, well below its European rivals.

CFMoto V4 SR-RR specs (prototype):
997cc 90-degree V4 engine
Over 210 hp @ 14,500 rpm
Under 200 kg weight
Power-to-weight ratio: 0.86 kg/ps
Top speed: over 300 km/h
Active electronically controlled winglets
Stressed-member chassis, engine as structural element
Semi-active electronic suspension
Brembo brake calipers (prototype spec)
Akrapovic exhaust, dual outlets (prototype spec)
Color TFT display
Quickshifter
No PH pricing or availability announced

A V4 superbike with active aero, a Ducati-derived chassis approach, and pricing that could seriously undercut the Europeans. If Motostrada brings it here, would it belong on your shortlist next to a Panigale or a ZX-10RR?
