Hero Super Splendor XTEC 2.0 breaks cover with 72 kmpl and hazard lights

Hero MotoCorp has rolled out the Super Splendor XTEC 2.0, and the headline number is fuel economy. The 125cc commuter now claims 72 kmpl, up from the 68 kmpl Hero quoted on the older XTEC. It sells for Rs 86,500 ex-showroom in Delhi, which works out to roughly PHP 56,900 at current rates.

This is not a clean-sheet bike. Think of it as a mid-cycle refresh of a model line that goes all the way back to 1994. Hero kept the proven hardware and bolted on the features buyers keep asking for.

The engine carries over. It is the same 124.7cc air-cooled single, good for 10.7 bhp at 7,500 rpm and 10.6 Nm at 6,000 rpm, mated to a five-speed gearbox. The mileage bump comes from Hero’s Advanced Programmed Fuel Injection working alongside the i3S idle stop-start system. An Integrated Starter Generator handles the near-silent restarts when you are stuck in stop-and-go traffic.

Now the part that actually matters for daily riders. The XTEC 2.0 adds hazard lights, a first for the Super Splendor line.

All four indicators blink together, handy during a breakdown or a sudden roadside stop. There is also a front disc brake with CBS and a handlebar-mounted engine kill switch.

The cockpit gets a full digital display with Bluetooth. It shows call and SMS alerts, caller ID, phone battery level, a real-time mileage readout, and a low fuel warning. A 2-amp USB Type-C port sits near the bars so your phone stays alive on navigation duty.

For context, Hero prices the XTEC 2.0 below the older XTEC disc variant, which still lists at Rs 88,044. In its home market it lines up against the Honda Shine 125, TVS Raider 125, and Bajaj Pulsar 125.

Here is the catch for us.

Hero has no real retail presence in the Philippines, so this stays an India launch for now.

Still, it is a telling look at where budget commuters are headed. Bluetooth dashboards and USB-C charging are quietly becoming the baseline, even on bikes that cost under PHP 60,000.

So here is the question for you. If a 125cc commuter landed here with Bluetooth, USB-C, and a genuine 72 kmpl for under PHP 60,000, would you pick it over a Honda or a Yamaha?

Or do you still want a physical key, a simple gauge, and nothing to charge before you ride? Drop your take in the comments, we want to hear which side you are on.
