Keeway EZI Hypevolt: Two-Variant Electric Scooter Eyes Asian Markets, Up to 125 km Range

Keeway’s electric sub-brand EZI is bringing the Hypevolt scooter to Asia, with India reportedly first in line and two variants with different powertrains on the table.

The Hypevolt was first unveiled at EICMA 2023. It sits in the premium urban scooter category, pegged roughly in line with a 125cc petrol scooter in performance terms. EZI is Keeway’s dedicated EV arm, launched in 2020 under the Qianjiang Group, the same parent company behind Benelli and Keeway’s ICE lineup.

The India-spec version is expected to arrive in two builds. The V1 uses a hub-mounted motor, while the V2 goes with a mid-mounted setup. That’s actually rare in this segment. Most brands offer one platform, one motor layout. Keeway is betting on two.

The V1 targets daily commuters with a single battery pack and moderate range. The V2 doubles up on the battery and motor output for riders who need more headroom. The gap between the two is significant enough that they feel like different products sharing the same chassis.

On the design side, you get dual LED headlamps, 14-inch alloy wheels, split seats, and underseat storage that fits a full-face helmet. The 5-inch TFT LCD display handles the tech side, with keyless start, traction control, hill descent, hill hold, reverse camera, cruise control, and a USB port rounding out the feature list. ADAS is also on the spec sheet for global variants, though which features carry over to market-specific models will vary.

No pricing or Philippine launch details have been confirmed. Keeway Philippines, distributed locally by Mitsukoshi Motors Philippines Inc., currently only carries ICE models. Whether EZI products make it here depends on how the India rollout goes first.

A 6,000W mid-mounted motor with 125 km of range puts the V2 in a space where it has very few direct rivals in this region. If Keeway brings this over at a competitive price point, it could make some noise in the premium electric scooter space, especially as more riders here start looking seriously at electrics for daily use.

No Philippine pricing or availability has been announced. Updates pending official regional confirmation.
