LTO removes 100 pesos Motorcycle Top Box Registration Fee

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has announced the removal of the ₱100 registration fee for motorcycle top boxes and saddle bags, following the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and Acting Transportation Secretary Giovanni Z. Lopez. The move is part of the agency’s 7-Point Policy Agenda aimed at streamlining processes and eliminating unnecessary costs for motorists.

LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Markus V. Lacanilao signed the memorandum formalizing the change, stressing that while the fee has been scrapped, registration of custom-made top boxes and saddle bags remains mandatory to ensure road safety and compliance with standards. Riders will now receive a certification from the LTO Central Office instead of an official receipt as proof of registration.

Lacanilao said the decision is a significant relief for riders who depend on their motorcycles for livelihood, as it removes an added financial burden.

The LTO also directed regional directors, law enforcement officers, and inspection center heads to fully implement the new policy and assist riders in completing registration without delays.

The agency emphasized that all previous issuances conflicting with this directive will be amended or revoked, reinforcing its campaign for “Totoong Serbisyo, Wag Negosyo” and its commitment to zero corruption and genuine public service.
