Niu has finally released their RQi electric motorcycle in Europe which was recently showcased at EICMA 2023.

It now produces around 11 horsepower and has a top speed of 68 mph. The motor is paired with a dual 72V 36Ah lithium-ion battery pack providing a combined energy capacity of 5184Wh.

This large battery allows the RQi to travel up to 105km on a single charge according to NIU’s testing standards. Real-world range will vary depending on riding conditions and style but over 95km should be achievable. Charging the battery from empty takes only 4 hours using the dual charger port.

At the heart of the RQi is a brushless DC motor rated for 7500W of maximum power output.

The RQi also comes equipped with NIU’s advanced smartphone app, allowing riders to monitor the battery level, locate their parked vehicle, and access ride data like distance and max speed. An LCD instrument display mounted to the handlebars also relays this information.

Electronic rider aids like ABS and traction control enhance safety, with the ABS modulating brake pressure individually on the front and rear wheels. LED lighting at both ends and the sides ensures excellent visibility day or night.

Weighing in at just 186kg fully fueled and loaded, the RQi chassis is lightweight yet rigid thanks to its aluminum beam frame and swingarm. Upswept dual-sided exhausts add to the sporty aesthetic.

Suspension duties are handled by conventional forks at the front and a preload-adjustable monoshock at the rear. Braking power comes from twin 300mm discs up front and a 240mm disc in back, all controlled by radial master cylinders.

17-inch wheels and wide profile tires provide confident handling on both road and light off-road terrain. Ergonomics are optimized for comfort over long distances in an upright riding position.

The RQi sets a new standard for performance, technology and range.Price starts from €7,999 (~PHP 444k). Niu will begin delivering the RQi to European dealerships this early 2024.
