Honda Philippines has dropped the price of its electric scooter to PHP 99,900, a big cut from its original PHP 155,400 launch price in the Philippines. That is a PHP 55,500 difference, which makes the EM1 e: look far more reasonable now than it did at launch, especially for buyers who want to shift to an EV for short daily rides.

The timing also matters. Fuel prices in the Philippines have been climbing again, with recent reports showing diesel breaching the PHP 100 per liter mark in some areas as pump prices continue to surge.

That alone puts more attention on alternatives that are cheaper to run day to day, especially for city commuters who deal with regular stop-and-go traffic.

For its new price, the EM1 e: already comes with one battery and one charger, which helps make the deal easier to justify. Honda’s swappable battery setup was one of the more interesting parts of the scooter from the start, but pricing was also one of the biggest reasons why many riders were hesitant. Now that it is down to below the six-digit mark, it feels much closer to where more people can actually start taking it seriously.

The EM1 e: is built mainly for city use. It has a top speed of around 45 km/h and a range of up to 48 km on a full charge under ideal conditions. It is not meant for long highway rides, but for short errands, daily commutes, and regular urban use, those numbers make more sense than before now that the price is lower.

At PHP 99,900, the Honda EM1 e: now looks like a much better buy than it did when it first arrived. With the battery and charger already included, and with fuel prices continuing to put pressure on everyday riders, this feels closer to the price point that could finally make Honda’s electric scooter a more realistic option for more Filipinos.
