Kawasaki is gearing up to bring back its flagship Z1000 roadster in a modern, high-capacity form this year, as filings with the California Air Resources Board (CARB) confirm the launch of the 2026 Z1100. Borrowing the same 1,099 cc inline-four engine found in the Ninja 1100SX sport-tourer and Versys 1100 adventure bike, the new naked Z-bike promises spirited performance wrapped in an upright, aggressive chassis.

2026 kawasaki z1100 confirmed in carb filings

The original Z1000 debuted in 2003, winning riders’ hearts with its torque-rich four-cylinder engine and minimalist styling. After evolving into the semi-faired Ninja 1000SX in 2011 and later giving way to the mid-capacity Z900, Kawasaki enthusiasts have long called for a true big-bore Z-model. With the successful rollout of the Ninja 1100SX and Versys 1100 for 2025, the stage is set for the Z1100 to reclaim its crown.

CARB documentation lists the model under the internal code “ZR1100HT,” signaling its 2026 year model status. Performance figures are expected to mirror its siblings: around 134–137 hp at 9,000 rpm and torque peaking in the mid-80 lb-ft range. While the Z1100 will likely weigh in a bit heavier than the Z900—estimated around 518 lb curb weight, similar to the Ninja 1100SX—the extra heft should translate into strong midrange punch and stability at speed.

Stylistically, spy photos and patent renders circulating online hint at a sharp, angular tank, split LED headlights, and minimal bodywork that emphasizes the trellis-like frame and big engine. Handlebar height and seating position appear tuned for comfort over long rides as well as precise control during city commutes. Premium touches such as dual-channel ABS, traction control, selectable ride modes, and a color TFT dash—features shared with its Kawasaki stablemates—are also expected.

The 2026 Z1100 arrives as the open-class naked segment heats up: Honda’s revamped CB1000 Hornet SP, Ducati’s Monster + family, and Yamaha’s MT-10 SP all vie for riders seeking raw power without fairings. Kawasaki’s new contender will aim to strike a balance between the sporting edge of a supersport and the everyday usability of a standard bike.

Kawasaki Philippines has yet to announce local availability or pricing, but enthusiasts can anticipate a formal reveal in the coming weeks ahead of its global launch. With its blend of proven performance, modern electronics, and iconic Z-series DNA, the Z1100 looks poised to reignite Kawasaki’s naked-bike legacy.
