Honda’s Alfonsi Daquigan to Represent the Philippines at Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup

Honda has announced that Alfonsi Daquigan will be representing the Philippines in this year’s Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup (IATC). The IATC is one of the premier racing competitions for young riders worldwide and serves as a crucial stepping stone for those aiming to compete in MotoGP.

“Becoming a champion is no easy feat, but we at Honda are excited to be part of this prestigious competition with one of HPI’s top racing talents. Alfonsi has been a standout since 2020, and we knew from the beginning that he would be a key asset to the racing community,” said Hervic Villa, HPI General Manager for Sales Office 1.

The IATC is a vital platform for young riders aspiring to reach MotoGP, proving that the spirit of competition remains strong among the next generation of racers. Honda’s commitment to Philippine racing is reflected in its ongoing efforts to support young talent like Alfonsi, who inspires other young riders aiming for success on the international stage.

At just 14 years old, Alfonsi Daquigan is already a seasoned competitor. His passion for racing and dedication to the sport have been evident since he was a child, with unwavering support from his parents.

“Racing has been my passion since I was a kid. The thrill of riding and the challenge of competing have always driven me. Representing the Philippines in this prestigious competition, with the support of my parents and the HPI family, is a dream come true. It’s an opportunity I’ll cherish throughout my racing career,” said Alfonsi.

With experience in both Japanese and Philippine racing competitions, Alfonsi has already secured several wins in various categories. His dedication to the sport is evident in his regular workouts and weekly training sessions. In Round 2 of the IATC at Sepang International Circuit, he finished 11th overall, showcasing his potential on the international stage.

Mr. Hitoshi Ito, HPI Adviser for Motorsports, emphasized Honda’s long-standing commitment to racing. “Honda’s racing spirit is deeply embedded in its DNA. The thrill of the racetrack and the challenge of competition are what drive us. Alfonsi’s achievements are a testament to his hard work, and we see him steadily improving,” he said.
