Taiwanese electric vehicle company Gogoro has big plans to expand their market reach. After building a name with their premium smart scooters, they now aim lower with a new model called JEGO. This electric two-wheeler targets the competitive affordable commuter space.

Gogoro knows this market well with their previous VIVA scooter. But JEGO improves practically from the start. It promises double the range of VIVA with customizable battery options. This gives riders flexibility for their daily needs. Maintenance is simple too with services only required every impressive 5,000 kilometers.

The Gogoro JEGO scooter comes in two types: the JEGO One Battery and the JEGO Dual Battery. The big difference between them is how far they can go before you need to swap the batteries. The Dual Battery version can go as far as about 162 km, but the One Battery version can travel around 79 km on a single battery.

Also, the Dual Battery scooter is a bit heavier, weighing 97 kg with its batteries, compared to the One Battery version, which weighs 87 kg with its battery. Apart from these differences, everything else like color choices, extra features, controls, performance, and the way they’re built is the same for both types.

Comfort took priority as well. JEGO allows for more foot space during travel. Storage expands too at a cavernous 22.3 liters. All this while keeping a low-maintenance high-speed motor. Reliability and ease of use remain top priorities.

The strategy with JEGO is to strip things back and focus on the fundamentals. Gogoro simplifies the technology for low-cost essentials. This includes extending range and cutting costs. User-friendly design also aims to attract casual commuters.

Interestingly, this aligns with industry trends. Many now prefer simplicity over high-tech features. Reliability proves more valuable than smart embellishments. With JEGO, Gogoro taps into these consumer preferences.

By launching JEGO, the company spreads its reach downmarket. This new electric scooter could become hugely popular for affordable, practical urban transport. No words yet if this will also be available in other markets like Philippines.
