Retro-style motorcycles are gaining popularity in the Asian market, as more riders are looking for bikes that combine classic design with modern technology. Several reputable manufacturers have responded to this demand by launching accessible models that appeal to a wide range of customers. One of these manufacturers is Triumph, a British brand that is known for its heritage line of motorcycles, such as the Bonneville, Speed Twin, and Scrambler series.
However, Triumph faces some challenges in expanding its presence in the Asian market, especially in India, where the competition is fierce and the price sensitivity is high. To overcome these challenges, Triumph has partnered with Bajaj, an Indian brand that has a strong presence and distribution network in the region. The Bajaj-Triumph partnership started in 2017 as a non-equity alliance with the goal of developing and producing mid-sized models for the Asian market.
The first product of this partnership will be unveiled this coming July in India. The bike is expected to have a 400 cc engine and a classic design inspired by the Triumph Bonneville, Speed Twin, and Scrambler series. It will feature a round headlight, a teardrop fuel tank, and a single-seat. It will also have modern features such as LED lights, digital instrument cluster, and ABS.
The new bike will target riders who want a more affordable and accessible option than the existing Triumph models in India. It will compete with other retro-style models in the Indian market, such as the Royal Enfield Classic 350 and the Jawa Forty Two. It will also pave the way for increased visibility for the British brand in the Indian market, as Bajaj has taken over the distribution of Triumph motorcycles in India and plans to increase the number of dealerships from 15 to over 120 in the next two years.
The launch event will take place on July 5, 2023 at 11:00 AM IST. You can watch it live on Triumph India’s official website or social media channels. The event will also reveal more details about the bike’s specifications, features, price, and availability.
