Honda has officially launched its first electric scooter, the Honda EM1-e: alongside the Concept Scooter SCe:, in the Philippines. After teasing it on their social media platforms, the company unveiled the EM1-e during an exclusive event in Shangri-La at the For. This electric vehicle marks Honda’s first official entry into the Philippine electric motorcycle market as part of their global electrification strategy.

The EM1-e is designed to be an eco-friendly urban commuter, offering a top speed of 45 km/h and a range of 41 to 48 kilometers depending on riding mode. It is powered by a 1.71 kW in-wheel 3-phase motor, and the Honda Mobile Power Pack e can be removed and charged using a standard outlet. This model also supports USB Type A for charging gadgets and features an LED headlight and tail light for better visibility.

Honda also outlined its electrification roadmap for motorcycles in the Philippines, aiming to introduce more models powered by swappable batteries starting in 2024, followed by a broader business expansion by 2025. The EM1-e’s pricing positions it as a competitive option in the electric scooter market like Gogoro 18, Segway 16 and Sunra 11, providing urban commuters with a sustainable and efficient mode of transport.
Honda has already rolled out the EM1-e in the UK, and it remains to be seen if any modifications will be made to the local version. With its entry into the electric motorcycle market, Honda is setting the stage for a broader adoption of EVs in the country.
